What's in a name?
Grange (noun): 1) a farm, together with its various outbuildings, 2) an association bringing together farmers, manufacturers, and consumers for education and commerce.
Stitching at the Grange embodies both—a farm-based quilting studio which brings together a community of makers, learners, and quilting and stitching enthusiasts who share a passion for handcrafted beauty.
A Bit About Me
I'm Ann Murphy—Longarm Quilter, Stitcher, Weaver and Farmer. My love affair with fiber began as a child with summer cross-stitch projects, and deepened in high school when I learned to weave on a floor loom and discovered the magic of transforming individual fibers into cloth—something both functional and beautiful.
In 2020, I taught myself to sew, taking my fiber journey into the world of fabric and quilting. Now I get to combine everything I love—quilting, stitching, designing, and creating heirloom pieces that tell stories.
Since 2016, I've called South Carolina home. Here at The Grange Three Gables Farm, I raise sheep, chickens, guinea hens, horses, and honey bees. Living this way connects me to a simpler time in America—when people worked the land, raised animals, and created beautiful things by hand. I'm especially drawn to the rich history of handcrafts in American communities, where quilting bees and stitching circles weren't just about creating functional items—they were about gathering, sharing stories, supporting one another, and preserving skills passed down through generations. It's this rhythm of farm life and handcraft that inspires my work and reminds me that the most meaningful things are often made slowly, with care and intention.
